SEALING WAX CLOTHING COMPANY
Sealing Wax Clothing Company was established in 2008
right here in San Diego. The name and symbol “SW” come
from the wax that was used to seal envelopes before
the advent of adhesives. The name seemed wonderfully
appropriate, as each collection from Sealing Wax Clothing
Company is inspired by a different time and place in
history. My current collection is inspired by the Victorian
era. Many of the printed designs are actual items from
that time period—look closely, you can see a postmark on
one of the postcards from 1911. Feathers, frog closures and
braided ribbons were often used to embellish clothing and
accessories. One-of-a-kind antique keys come with each
keychain; all crocheted hats & scarves are handmade
(by me personally), as would have been common at that
time. There is something enchanting about bygone eras,
and the fashion was often timeless. That is the inspiration
for Sealing Wax, I’ve enjoyed bringing the line to life, and I
sincerely hope that you enjoy it as well!
Yours truly,
Virginia Lorraine Jacobson
